So we still calls Windows machines, after all these years, "PC's." This strikes me as funny.

Anyway, I see now that Microsoft has some pretty good commercials rebutting the Mac vs. PC commercials from Apple. I myself use both an Apple and a Windows machine. I use my Windows machine mostly for work, and my iMac mostly at home. I love working on videos and doing stuff with photography (I would consider myself a prosumer photographer, and I have been paid for photography).

The age old myth these days is that Mac's are better for graphics and media and stuff and Windows machines are better for work. This myth goes all the way back to the early days, when PC's were actual IBM machines and Apple had the first really good publishing and multimedia applications.

I'm not bashing Apple. I love my Mac. I think Apple is innovating (iMac, iPod, iPhone, etc) while others simply follow. I think the Mac OS is vastly superior to anything Microsoft has done... Ever.

But what are your thoughts? Is there any reason to believe, these days, that an Apple computer is better for photography, video, music, etc.?

Agreed, although it's a perfect example of marketing! Apple wasn't bad although Mircrosoft was superior.

With that said, Apple could end up being the turtle and Microsoft could be the hare? We all know who won that race!

Matt, Great question... I have always been a PC guy - primarily because it is the way of the business community... I must say that I am much more active in the world of media now adays, and this is making me want to enter the world of the Mac...! Yet, I find that the "plug and play" environment of the PC makes it cost-effective and compelling to stay with the pC

I don't have comparison experience, but I can say that while I have gotten things to work in the world of the PC, I am compelled by a more powerful and robust way to work - especially with new media.

What does your consensus show among your friends, peers, and colleagues - Mac or PC?

Consensus on this question is hard, because Mac users are extremely biased in their love for the Mac. I love the Mac, and I've only been using one for less than a year. I'm not sure if I love it because its better or because its a more cool computer. Maybe both.
